CEC@thornton

The CEC@thornton is currently developing a new purpose built training centre based in Thornton. Its primary function is to deliver next generation of BTEC First in Construction and the Built Environment (NQF) to 14-16 year olds

The centre is privately operated and is working alongside Pearson/Edexcel towards centre qualification and accreditation. We have a small team of local people with specialised construction knowledge and practising in the delivery of vocational and technical qualifications.

The centre will be operational in early 2014 and will deliver this qualification from September 2014.

BTEC

In 2009/2010 alone, over 1 million learners worldwide registered to take a BTEC qualification.

In 2008/9, over 100,000 BTEC students were successful in applying to higher education after studying a BTEC.

Approximately 11.8% of learners who have achieved BTEC Level 1 qualifications have also gained an undergraduate degree or other higher education qualifications.

At BTEC Level 2, the figure rises to 13.2% and at Level 3 the figure is 20.7%.
